**Excellent gaming laptop, minor port placement complaint**
The Omen 16 Slim with the Apollo 32GB/1TB upgrade is a very capable machine. The Core Ultra 9 + RTX 5070 combination handles everything I throw at it: AAA games at high/ultra 1200p with DLSS 4, video editing in DaVinci Resolve, and productivity workloads. The slim chassis is great for travel. My only complaint: the USB-C is on the left side which doesn’t always work great with my desk setup, and I wish there were two USB-C ports instead of one. The single USB-C with PD is convenient when I’m traveling though. Overall a very polished gaming laptop.

**Best Omen Intel laptop I’ve tested — runs cool and quiet**
My third HP Omen — this 16 Slim is the best yet. The Intel Core Ultra 9 285H handles thermals better than I expected, and the cooling system keeps the chassis comfortable even during extended gaming sessions. RGB keyboard zones are vivid without being garish, and the typing experience on the per-key (4-zone) backlit keyboard with numpad is excellent for both gaming and productivity. The HyperX-tuned speakers actually have decent bass — rare for a laptop. Battery life is fine for productivity (about 6-7 hours web/office), and an hour or so under heavy gaming load.

**Strong value at this config but watch the VRAM ceiling**
The Omen 16 Slim is a thoughtful balance of performance and portability. The Intel Core Ultra 9 285H is a strong CPU for both gaming and productivity, and the RTX 5070 Laptop GPU is more than capable at the 1920×1200 native resolution. My main caveat: the RTX 5070 ships with only 8GB of GDDR7 — fine for current 1200p titles but I’d consider the 5070 Ti config if you plan to keep this for 4+ years. The 144Hz IPS panel is good (anti-glare is a plus) but not OLED-tier; that’s reasonable at this price. Wi-Fi 6E and Thunderbolt-class USB-C round out a solid configuration.

**Apollo upgrade was painless and the warranty backs it up**
Bought the 32GB/1TB Apollo Premium upgrade variant and it was the right call. The laptop arrived performing flawlessly with the upgraded RAM and SSD already installed and tested. Apollo’s 1-year warranty on the upgraded parts plus HP’s 1-year on the original components covers everything. Performance-wise the Core Ultra 9 285H + RTX 5070 + 32GB combo handles every modern title at 1200p high settings with DLSS 4 making demanding RT scenes very playable. The 144Hz IPS panel is sharp, the anti-glare coating helps in bright rooms, and the build quality feels premium.

**Slim chassis, full power — Core Ultra 9 285H + RTX 5070 is a sweet spot**
I was hesitant about a ‘Slim’ branded gaming laptop, but the Omen 16 Slim absolutely punches above its weight. The Core Ultra 9 285H is a beast — 16 cores tear through productivity work, while the RTX 5070 with GDDR7 memory handles 1200p gaming at 144Hz beautifully. DLSS 4 is genuinely impressive in supported titles. The 4-zone RGB keyboard is well-implemented (not overdone) and HyperX audio is surprisingly punchy for a laptop. The slim profile makes it actually portable, unlike many gaming laptops that feel like bricks. Excellent buy at this spec/price.
