5 reviews for EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER SC Ultra GAMING — 6GB GDDR6, Dual-Fan, Metal Backplate

**Good for 1080p, but 6GB shows limits in some newer titles**

The GTX 1660 SUPER SC Ultra is a quality product with reliable EVGA construction. At 1080p it handles most titles well, but I’ve noticed VRAM pressure in a handful of newer games at ultra texture settings — 6GB fills up faster than expected in 2025 titles. Also no ray tracing or DLSS since this is a GTX (not RTX) card, which matters more as more games ship with RT. For the price it’s still good value if your expectations match the hardware, but I’d only recommend it for 1080p medium-high settings going forward rather than maxing everything.

**Great card, quiet cooler, runs cool**

Picked this up for a media center / light gaming build and it’s perfect. Even under full GPU load in demanding games the temperature maxes out around 72°C and the fans are barely audible. The compact dual-fan design fits in most cases without clearance issues. 6GB GDDR6 is comfortable for all current 1080p titles and leaves headroom for the future. Outputs include DVI which is handy for hooking up an older monitor. EVGA support is legendary even though they’ve left the GPU market — their warranty service for existing cards is still excellent.

  3. TechReviewerPro

**Solid Turing-gen GPU with great GDDR6 bandwidth**

The 1660 SUPER occupies a sweet spot in the GPU hierarchy — it genuinely outperforms the 1660 non-Super by 10-15% thanks to the GDDR6 memory upgrade, and trades blows with some RTX 2060 results in rasterization. For pure 1080p gaming without ray tracing it’s excellent. The EVGA SC Ultra SKU runs at 1830MHz boost which is solid for this chip. No hardware RT, no DLSS (no Tensor Cores), which is the honest trade-off at this price. If you’re purely gaming at 1080p and don’t need those features, this is a great buy.

  4. BudgetBuilder

**Perfect GPU for a first build or budget upgrade**

I built my first gaming PC around this card and couldn’t be happier. It handles Fortnite, Warzone, Apex Legends, and Minecraft at 1080p high settings with 100+ fps easily. The single 8-pin connector and 125W TDP make it easy to pair with a mid-range PSU. The metal backplate prevents GPU sag and makes the card look premium. EVGA quality control is always excellent — no coil whine, no artifacting, runs cool and quiet at all times. Perfect starter GPU.

**Best budget 1080p GPU you can buy — incredible value**

The GTX 1660 SUPER SC Ultra is the king of budget 1080p gaming. I’ve been running it for months across dozens of games and it handles everything at high/ultra settings without breaking a sweat. The GDDR6 memory makes a real difference vs the standard 1660 — bandwidth-limited games run noticeably smoother. EVGA’s SC Ultra overclock means it beats reference designs out of the box, and the dual-fan cooler is whisper quiet. No ray tracing, but honestly at this price point you don’t need it. Highly recommended.
